Scarves for Days

It's been a while since I have posted, so I thought it was time to post two of my most popular outfits from our Instagram account. We are well into my favorite season, and I am loving the weather. This weather means that I get to wear a lot of my scarves. I own a lot, but you can never have too many, right?

I wore this first outfit while out at a pumpkin patch with my boyfriend. It was the perfect cozy sweater to wear on a chilly day. Fair isle is also one of my most favorite patterns of the season, so when I saw this sweater at Forever 21 I knew I had to get it.

Sweater: Forever 21 (similar)
Scarf: Carson's (similar
Boots: Old (similar)
Tank: Old Navy

This next outfit features my new favorite mustard scarf that was a gift from the boyfriend. I have been wanting a mustard knit scarf for a while now, but I never found one that I liked enough. This one was surprisingly from Amazon. They actually have some good fashion finds if you take a look.

Scarf: Amazon
Gingam shirt: Old Navy (similar)
Boot socks: Kohls (similar)
Combat boots: Kohls
Tank top: Old Navy

October Draught

Dear blogging community,

I did not post anything for the entire month of October... I apologize for that! It was a busy month for me. To make up for that, I'll post my three top outfits from October. These three received the most likes and comments from our Instagram followers. Thanks for the love, ladies!

The common thread? One pair of awesome suede booties I picked up from Clothes Mentor :)
They're last season, but Target is selling almost the same pair for $35.

This necklace and the blue one in the first photo are both from Groopdealz, a site that changes their inventory all the time. Check out today's deals to see what you find!

I just want to say that Target is a fabulous establishment. I found this brown sweater and flirty skirt there (similar).

My black v-neckyellow pants, and plaid button down are all last season Old Navy. The links will take you to similar options. The grey tights are last season American Apparel.

I love my tan J. Crew blazer (navy), and I wear it whenever I can. The Adriano Goldschmied jeans are a little pricey, but worth the investment. I've probably worn them 200 times.

Fall Favorites

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted my outfits! School and work have been crazy stressful, but I guess that is to be expected when you are a senior in college. I will be posting two outfits to try and make up for my absence. We are well into my favorite season of the year, and I am loving the weather. This is sweater weather, folks! There is nothing better.

The majority of the pieces from this first outfit can be found at Old Navy. They had a huge storewide sale last weekend, and I definitely took advantage of it (maybe a little too much). ;) I had been wanting a sweater or cardigan with elbow patches for a long time, and now I finally have one.

Sequined elbow patch cardigan: Old Navy
Velvet Pants: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls, old, (similar)
Suede booties: Old Navy
Tank top: Old Navy (similar)
Scarf: Charotte Russe, old, (similar)

Mock Layered Sweater: Kohls
Pants: Sold Design Lab, old, (similar)
Flats: Kohls

Hope these outfits made up for my absence! Put your comments or questions below, because we love feedback! (:

Mellow Yellow

I posted this outfit on our Instagram about a week ago, and it has gotten a lot of insta-love :) I'm sorry it's been a while since I put up a new outfit; school and work have been really busy recently.
This look fell together really naturally. I've always loved the color combination of yellow and navy, so I was happy to pair these Old Navy skinnies with this Loft top.

Fall Staples

It's been a while since I've posted, so I decided to post a double feature. Both of these two outfits are made up of what I consider to be fall staples: jeans, scarves, riding boots, and black go-to pieces. The first outfit I wore to church this week, and the second I work to class and work. The first outfit is a good example of my simple style - pairing black with gold. It's so easy, and it's so classic. The second outfit came together very easily, just by pairing a simple v-neck with a long cardigan, a scarf, and boots.

Top: T.J. Maxx similar on Zappos

Shoes: Target similar

Necklace: old - similar at Forever 21

Cardigan: Old Navy

V-Neck: GroopDealz - similar at J. Crew

Scarf: Old Navy similar at Forever 21

Watch: vintage - similar at Forever 21

Earrings: old - similar at Forever 21

Boots: borrowed - similar at Target

We're Liebster Nominees? Awesome!

A description of the Liebster award from Katelyn Now (the lovely blogger who nominated us!):

"Liebster means “dearest” in German and the “award” is given by bloggers for bloggers. It’s intent is to spread the word about blogs with 200 followers or less. So those who are nominated answer 11 questions given by the blog who nominated them and picks 11 more blogs to be nominated for the next round!"

Thanks for the nomination, Katelyn! We're glad you stumbled across our blog :)

Our Answers

1. Why did you start blogging? Brooke: We started blogging because we were inspired by some really great examples like HelloGorgeousJsEverydayFashion and Kendieveryday. One day in August, Brittany asked me if I'd like to start a blog with her. When I agreed, Brittany went to work setting us up on blogspot and Instagram. Once everything was in set up, it all began to fall in place. Brittany: We started blogging because we both really love fashion, and like Brooke already said, we were inspired by some of our favorite fashion bloggers. We wanted to show other people what we wear and how they can get similar looks.
2. Where is your favorite vacation spot? Brooke: my favorite vacation destination is Paw Paw Lake, Michigan. It's surrounded by some charming small towns, and I love to do water sports and relax with my family on the lake. Brittany: My favorite vacation spot is probably New York City. I got the trip as a gift for my 18th birthday and it was definitely one of the best experiences of my life. I am itching to go back sometime.
3. What is something you do to relax? Brooke: I like to relax by doing Netflix marathons with my boyfriend and taking naps. Some great marathon options include Scrubs, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, and Breaking Bad. Brittany: I also love to watch movies or TV shows with my boyfriend to relax, but I also love to shop. Shopping is relaxing for me.
4. What blog inspires you most? Brooke: my favorite blog so far is HelloGorgeous, because her outfits are not only practical, but also fashionable. Brittany: My favorite blog is J'sEverydayFashion. She always styles very cute outfits, and she often gets them at great, affordable prices. I love a good bargain, so I love her blog.
5. What is your all time favorite book? Brooke: I'm really more of a series girl. I loved all of the Harry Potter books, and the Hunger Games series. Brittany: My favorite book is Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. Its a great read that I would recommend to anyone.
6. Summer, Fall, Winter, or Spring? Pick one! Brooke: Growing up, I always loved summer. No school, playing outside, and swimming: what's not to love? Now that I work and go to school, my favorite season might be fall. The temperature allows for a larger variety of fashion choices, it's more comfortable all around, and it's beautiful outside. Brittany: My favorite season hands down is Fall. It always has been and always will be. I love the weather, the smell in the air, anything pumpkin flavored, the colored leaves, and most definitely the fashion.
7. What do you do to get more traffic to your blog? Brooke: So far, we've worked mostly through Instagram. We both update the Instagram (@bandboutfitters) more often than we post on the blog, simply because it takes less time. I usually try to get traffic to the blog by using a variety of hashtags on each Instagram post. Brittany: Like Brooke said we mostly try to get traffic through Instagram, but I also have posted our blog on my personal Facebook page and I have posted some of our pictures onto Pinterest.
8. Are you an early bird or a night owl? Brooke: I am most definitely a night owl. I usually feel groggy when I wake up, but by mid-day I'm ready to take on the world. I am most productive in the afternoon and at night. Brittany: Surprisingly, I am kind of a mix of both. I would prefer to sleep in later in the mornings, but when I have to get up early for class or work I do so pretty easily. On the other hand, I also enjoy staying up late.
9. What do you enjoy most about being a blogger? Brooke: I enjoy blogging because it gives me a chance to feel productive while working on something I enjoy. It provides a really nice break from homework, and gives me a reason to dress well every day. Brittany: I love blogging because it gives me a way to share my love of fashion with others. I also love it because I have had a few people tell me that a few of my looks have inspired them to wear a similar outfit or go out and buy a similar item. That gives me a great feeling to know that I inspired at least one person. It is also a great stress reliever to get to do something I love.
10. Do you blog “full time” or is it an on the side hobby? Brooke: We are "part-time" bloggers. We are both full time college students who also have part time jobs. I am a Communications and Theatre major, I edit the A&E section of my student newspaper, I am directing my own one-act play this semester, and I work as a conference and events assistant. Brittany: Like Brooke said we are part-time bloggers. I am an English Education major, so I go to classes, do some teacher aiding, and I also work as a server at a restaurant. My schedule is pretty crazy right now, so blogging is a great break from all the stress!
11. Dogs or cats? Pick one! Brooke: My choice here would be dogs. They're fun to play with, they are loyal, and adorable. Also, I happen to be highly allergic to cats... but I'll admit that they are very cute. Brittany: I am definitely a dog person. I have a dog and I love him to pieces. I, too, am allergic to cats, but my boyfriend has a cat and I will say she is a cutie.

It's Easy Being Green

Finally the Fall weather has started to grace us with its presence. Fall is my all time favorite season of the year, so I have eagerly been waiting its arrival. Fall brings layers, pants, jackets, and boots, which are all great pieces. My only issue with Fall is what to do with all my summer wear? Can you only wear dark colors in fall or is there a way to transition bright colors and florals into your fall wardrobe? Well, this outfit was my answer to those questions. I love floral patterns, so I did not want to pack up all my floral pieces and store them until spring. Here is my fall floral look. Let me know if you think it works, and let me know how you transition your summer pieces into the Fall season!

Fall Flannel

Another day of fall is upon us, and another day of fall fashion. Today, I decided to break out my favorite flannel from last season. I dressed it up with some Adriano Goldschmeid jeans and gold touches like this lovely Ann Taylor Loft necklace. I thought this outfit was fitting for fall, and I was excited to have weather cool enough to wear it!

Tribal Trending

I was skeptical when I first saw these pants at Target. I had recently seen a friend wear a similar pair, and found myself wondering if I, too, could rock the tribal trend. When I tried on this pair at Target, I knew I had to give it a shot.

If you are also skeptical about this trend (but you still want to give it a shot), I recommend picking a similarly neutral pallet. However, choosing a brighter hue can add drama to this bold trend. For this classic-loving girl, the neutral pattern was the way to go.

The Gold is in the Details

I have already mentioned how I went shopping over the Labor Day Weekend, because the sales were too good to avoid. This top is another one of my purchases from that weekend. I got it at New York & Company for 40% the original price. I also got the bracelets I am wearing in this outfit from a set there. I loved this shirt because it is so versatile. It can be worn dressed up with a pencil skirt (which I plan to do in the coming weeks), or it can be worn dressed down with jeans. It also has the cutest gold buttons that I thought accent the mint color nicely.

Blouse: New York & Company (They only have it in white now)
Jeans: Levi's, Old (Similar, similar)
Belt: Borrowed from my mom (Similar)
Watch: Amazon
Bracelets: New York & Company (Similar, similar)

2 for 1

I know it has been a few days since I have posted an outfit. My apologies for that. My classes started last week and my attention and time has gone to my school work (my stress has gone to it too). Since I have been late at posting, I thought I should add something extra to this post which is why I will be posting two outfits on here. This first outfit I wore over the weekend. I bought this shirt at a Labor Day Sale. I tried to stay away, but let's be real the sales were too enticing to say no! I loved this shirt as soon as I saw it. First of all the color is trendy for fall, and its a simple, casual shirt but it has this unique pocket that has studs covering it.

Shirt: Carson's
Jeans: Forever 21
Shoes: Target
Headband: Old, Forever 21 (similar)

This second shirt also was bought at the sale at Carsons. I loved it because it too features a popular fall color. I have been obsessed with any clothes that are olive colored. You cannot see from the picture, but it also has cute gold buttons on the sleeves. These F21 jeans were 7 bucks and I love them.
Shirt: Carson's. Cant find online (similar)
Jeans: Forever 21
Shoes: Target
Watch: Old, gift (similar)
Bracelet: New York & Co (similar bracelets)

I hope that these two posts made up for being late on posting! What are you favorite colors or trends for fall?

This simple look feels so classic to me. The chambray with the white jeans transitions well during that awkward time period between summer and fall. Pairing these denim staples with some trendy accessories brought everything together.

Finds of All Kinds

Today, I'll be blogging about an outfit of "finds." I originally found these shorts at Goodwill; a painless purchase of about $5. They were previously mom-jeans, and I gave them new life as high-waisted cutoffs. The thrifting trend got me into Goodwill, and I was pleased with my find. My other find here was the black lace top. It was deep in the recesses of my t-shirt drawer, and I found it there this morning while searching for an outfit. I think it was originally from TJ Maxx, but it has clearly been a while since I wore it. I thought this outfit would be a little too stark without a pop of color, so I added my favorite new belt from Target and my OPI liquid sand nail polish in jinx.

Hope you're all having a lovely holiday weekend!

Maxin' Out

Its another hot one today and the temperatures reached over 90 degrees. This especially is not great because my classrooms are freezing. This outfit was a way to make the best out of things. This chambray shirt has quarter length sleeves which give me some comfort in the cold classroom. The maxi skirt is very flowy and light which is great for the heat outside. The statement necklace just added a little something extra that I felt this outfit needed.

Nautical Night

I wore this outfit while on vacation with my family several weeks ago, but I liked it a lot so I thought I'd post it here for you all. By happy coincidence, I got to wear my nautical outfit on a restaurant/boat on Lake Michigan. I also decided to try out the half and half hairstyle for the outing... thoughts? I've repeated the style once since then and I think it went over well. The shorts and the top were both on clearance from Ann Taylor, and I borrowed the necklace and shoes from my equally fashionable sister, (so I'm not sure where they're from). Enjoy!

Watching Your Budget: Amazon

So I've been wanting a rose gold watch for a while now, but I was always turned away by the high prices that come attached to them. Michael Kors has the nicest rose gold watches around, and you better believe if I had 200 dollars to drop on a new watch I would snatch one up. Unfortunately, I am a broke college student so I do not have that kind of pocket change. That is where this beauty below comes in. I don't know if many of you know this but Amazon is actually a great place for affordable watches. They have a variety of watches available at all different prices. The one I got cost me only $7.23. Yes you read that correctly, $7!

Rose Gold Watch: Amazon

Since this one was so affordable, I took the advantage of posting a few others that I liked for you to check out:
